[...] While Salvador Dalí had won the Facebook poll last month of who I should make a topographic art of next, the runner up was famed film director Alfred Hitchcock. As I’m constantly trying to evolve this process of converting photos into layers of die-cut paper, this render fell somewhere between Dali and Satchelmouth in terms of complexity. I also played around with using more of the metallic papers. Thanks for viewing. Cheers. [...]

Yeah, La Bayou became our "pet" place, since it was the only place that carried the Southern Pecan beer that I loved. We avoided the Katrina tour... why see something depressing while you're on vacation, right?

La Bayou looks good. Wish we would have hit that place when we were down there. A lot of the older places I went to the first time I went to New Orleans were not the same after Katrina.

Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves!

Thanks man. The painting portion (photos to come soon) happened over the span of several weekends, and the die-cuts happened over the full span of last Sunday.

Glad I am not the only one. 10-15 minute walk to the train station, 45 minute train, wait 30 minutes, 20 minute bus..... I leave my apartment at around 5:20 and get home around 6:20. This is in Boston, commuting to practically New Hampshire. In a car the commute would be 30 minutes each way, although I would probably have to walk 5 miles before I got to my car because parking in Boston is very pricey.

You'll want to upgrade that memory on the backend, but I think you can handle that install. One SuperDrive should be enough. The GFX card won't have much impact on MJR, but you do other projects of a more visual nature so I'm not sure there. Overall, that's a hell of a nice machine and a nice savings.

Hey Lori,
HVAC specialists should be easy to find--- just Google that and the name of your town or county, and you should get several results. When you call them, just make sure they handle residential duct work and ask if they can come out to give you a quote.

I would get at least three quotes for doing the job, since many contractors will try and railroad you if they think you don't know any better. I recall that my duct rerouting cost about $600, but (a) we used the flexible ductwork (which is cheaper but not as effective as the rigid metal) and (b) it was a much smaller job than yours. But see what your quotes bring in, you might be surprised for the good... in a down economy, low-priced work is better than no work at all for a contractor!

Also, ask if paying in cash can get you a discount... some contractors will do that and it saves tax/etc. Good luck!
