The Nextel beep is one of the primary reasons why I moved out of Harlem and to Brooklyn. I would hear the beep incessantly throughout the night during warm weather when my windows were open. It is shrill enough to wake Rip Van Winkel. It was bad enough listening to thug conversations on the elevated trains and buses.

i DO understand your compaint. i have a nextel and i hate to be a nusance. i turn off the dc/gc speaker when i get a dc call. so all anybody would hear is one BEEP and i would turn off the speaker so i can have a converstaion in private, i use the headset rather than the speaker. also the speaker KILLS your battery, using the headset does not. my only compaint is that when you use DC through the headset it is not loud enough.
